A Woman's True Vacation

There is a saying that women's work is never done.  If you are a woman, you know that is true.  There is always something else we could be doing for our husband, our children, our home but not too often for ourselves.  We cook, we clean, we grocery shop, get our children to innumerable places, help with their homework, make cookies for bake sales and so on and on and on.

Then, someone says, it's time for a vacation.  Well, how fun.  We have to get all the clothes ready, cancel the dental appointments, get the oil changed in the car, make reservations for wherever we are going, organize everyone's suitcases, find the special clothing someone wants, settle arguments ranging from how much candy to why can't we go someplace else for our vacation.  So, it goes.  There is always something more we have to do.

Vacations are often harder on Mom than staying at home.  Kids have more concerns away from home and we don't always have what we need to help them when we are away from home.  So, what's a mother to do?

There is a wonderful place for women to truly be on vacation.  It's called a cruise.  This the only place in the world where all things are done for us and we don't do anything.  An absolute rest.   Ahhhhhhhhhh

For some women, it doesn't matter where the cruise goes.  That isn't the point.  It's walking onto a mini town where there are at least eight places to eat anytime you are hungry, activities for the children almost constantly, swimming pools, hot tubs, games, saunas, anything that women could want.  A library, television, meditation center, classes ranging from cooking, animal towel folding, serious subjects, games ranging from cards, bingo to some serious gambling for those who care to participate.

Evening shows feature comedy, music, dancing and lots of fun.  Watching the musical shows and exciting costumes can be fun without any effort.  Also afternoon movies, DVD's' available from the desk, shopping and on site television programs can add to the enjoyment.

But for some of us, the real pleasure of a cruise is doing absolutely nothing.  No food to buy or prepare, no cooking, no cleaning up, waiters serving constantly.  Room service.  Breakfast brought to you in your room or in any of the wonderful places on the ship.  Fresh fruit brought to your room every afternoon.  Spa's available for any services wanted.

So maybe it isn't the destination.  Maybe it's for once, someone takes care of us. That is truly the most memorable, wonderful vacation we can have.
