(written by her daughter, Pamela Rushton Buttle)

The subject of this sketch, Sarah Robinson Rushton, was born in West Bromich, near Birmingham, England in August 1836. She was the daughter of Mary Wood and John Robinson.

John Robinson was a member of the Church of England, while her mother, Mary Wood, was raised in the Methodist faith in a home of luxury. Grandfather Wood was a man of considerable means.

Int he early days of the Mormon church, John Robinson and his wife, Mary Wood, allied themselves with this despised people, the only members of either family to do so until several years later when one of Granmother's sisters joined the Church.
