James Christopher Catron
His Story
James Christopher Catron was born on June 4,1856 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to parents John Catron and Elizabeth Ann (Dula) Catron. He was 6th of 9 children born to the couple. They lived in Patterson, Caldwell Co., North Carolina until after the Civil War.
In the census of 1870 they were living in Grant Twsp, Caldwell Co. Mo. In 1883 he married Jessie May Dula , in Lenoir, North Carolina.
In the census of 1900 they were living in Nevada, Story Co. ,Iowa and had 7 children. James was working as a buggy salesman at the time. In the city directories of 1902 he was listed as working for R.C. Buggy company. In 1903 he was listed as being a travel agent, in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1905 the address was listed as Belle Plains, Iowa.
By 1912 Mrs. James (Jessie) Catron was listed as living alone , divorced and working. Again in 1925 the same. The 1928 census listed Mrs. Jessie Catron, divorced and teaching school in Marshalltown, Iowa.
On the family sheet on Ancestry it is stated that James Christopher Catron died in Los Angeles , California on Feb. 18,1919. I was unable to find where he buried.
