Alan and Ellen Loveland live in Orem. They have been married 14 years. Alan is a retired building contractor, having had businesses in Alaska, Idaho and Utah. Ellen retired From UVU as a Professor in the School of Business teaching legal studies. She is also a lawyer on inactive status. She has traveled widely. She lived 4 years in Denmark and taught 4 months in Kiev, Ukraine. As a delegate from the Utah Bar Association, she and other lawyers visited China to study the Chinese legal system. As Faculty Senate President at UVU she was part of a delegation to Oxford University in England to study cultural diversity. At the present time she is President of the HOA board in their condominium association.
Ellen was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her family joined the church when she was 17. After graduation she attended BYU. Ellen married Alan Hall and had 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. They were later divorced. She has 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, with another one on the way.
Alan was born in Ogden, moved to Idaho 3 years later, graduated from high school and went on a mission to the Gulf States Mission. While serving in Baton Rouge he met and taught Ellen’s family the gospel. He then graduated from BYU in Construction Management. Alan met his wife, Ann, at BYU and after graduation moved to Alaska for 18 years. They have 4 daughters, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Ellen and Alan got together after Ann passed away in 2001 and were married in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple in 2002. They served a mission together in 2009-2011 in the Alaska Anchorage Mission, working in the mission office. Now they are enjoying working together in this family history mission. Alan is currently serving as 1st councilor in the bishopric and Ellen is serving as a Sunday school teacher, family history consultant and a member of the Relief Society humanitarian committee.
