Their Story
Henry Conrad Bebermeyer is listed as being born in Warren County, Missouri on January 6,1851. His parents are listed as Conrad Bebermeyer(1815 Lippe-Daltmal, Germany-1890 Warrenton, Mo.) and Mary(??) Bebermeyer, also of Germany. The parents came to the United States, in 1846, through New Orleans, then up Mississippi to St. Louis, Mo.
Henry C. is listed as living with parents and siblings William, Caroline, May, & Elizabeth in the census of 1870, in Elkhorn, Warren County, Missouri.
In 1874 Henry C. is listed as joining in marriage with Mary Lucy Ullmer in Jackson County, Missouri. The census of 1880 show the family living in Elkhorn, Warren Co. Missouri with 2 children Ella, and Flora, along with MichaelUllmer age 69 of Baden Germany. The census of 1900, Caldwell County, Mo. Shows a marriage of 26 years. The family is residing in Kingston, Caldwell Co. Missouri, with 6 children. Ella-24, Flora-22, George-18,John-12, Ray-10 and Paul 3.
The census of 1920 show Henry C. and Lucy living in Emporia, Kansas along with daughter Flora and son John.
Lucy Mary Ullmer Bebermeyer died on April 7,1938 in Colorado, at the home of daughter Ella Neff. She is buried in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia , Kansas. But the census of 1930 show Henry C. living in Emporia , Kansas with daughter Flora B. and he is listed as widowed. There seems to be a discrepancy in the time frame.
In an obituary found in Clarks’ obituaries it states that Henry C. Bebermeyer had been living with his daughter Ella Neff since September of 1937, before that he had lived with son John in Emporia, since his daughter Flora had died in 1936. It was also noted that Henry C. and wife Lucy had moved to Emporia, Kansas in 1919.
Henry Conrad Bebermeyer died in Colorado April, 1938, and was brought back to Emporia, Kansas for burial in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, on 19th of April.
I am including Fred Bebermeyer on Henry Conrad’s story, because from some of information I found, it appears that the father of Henry Conrad Bebermeyer was married more than once, with a large amount of children listed as being born to he and both wives. I did find a Fred Bebermeyer born to Conrad and 2nd wife in 1872 Warren Co. Missouri, but also found a Fred Bebermeyer born to Conrad Bebermeyer and 1st wife in 1865 in Warren Co. Missouri. Fred is either a brother or a half brother to Henry Conrad Bebermeyer, so I leave it at that.
