Mrs. E.A. Catron (Elizabeth Ann)
Her Story
Elizabeth Ann Dula was born on Sept. 1,1828 in Lenoir, Caldwell Co. North Carolina to parents Thomas Beasley Dula(1786-1829) and Elizabeth Hulme (1787-1855). She had five brothers and two sisters, she being the youngest.
In 1844 in Caldwell Co. North Caroling Elizabeth joined in marriage with John Catron. The resided in Yadkin, Caldwell Co., North Carolina in 1850 on a farm. At this time they had 3 children.
In the census of 1860 their residence was listed as Patterson, Caldwell Co. North Carolina and they had a total of 8 children. Two more being born during the Civil War.
After the Civil War ended we find the family living in Grant Twsp, Caldwell Co. Missouri.
Her husband John died in 1873, and I find Elizabeth and three of the youngest children living in Kidder, Missouri.
Elizabeth’s Grandfather William Dula fought in the Revolutionary War, and several descendents during the 1940’s-70’s applied for membership to the “Sons of the American Revolution” Her father Thomas Beasley Dula is listed in a few places as “Capt” but did not find what unit he was with, it would have been after the Revolutionary War and he died before the Civil War.
Elizabeth Ann (Dula)Catron died on April 29,1900 in Hamilton, Missouri and is buried in Kingston Cemetery.
