I recieved a hand made card the other day and it moved me to write this story. A good friend, Kathy Larsen, lost her brother in the Afganistan war. He meant almost everything to her and I remember the time when she could hardly speak trying to come to grips with this family tragedy.

Kathy is one of the first people to work with me on developing the concept of online legacy stories. She has been there as we navigated the ups and downs over the past 5 years trying to help others to experience the power of their stories.

Early on she recorded her then 2-year-old son David's first whistle and his proud first finger snap. I feel like I know David like a nephew and see him that way in my heart. As time passed Kathy had the courage to write a story about her brother which I highly encourage you to read and please comment on. She will sincerely appreciate it.

David, now 5, and his classmates were drawing Thank You cards for veterans on Veterans Day. Having lost his uncle he instead drew the card for me. Opening this precious card was a legacy moment in my ife and so I wanted to record it here for all to share. The card and message are both adorable but to receive it from a child who lost his uncle to war is what really makes this special.

Christine deserves credit for this story because she is the one who took the time to scan the card and send it to me. When it arrived in my email I knew it had to be published in my legacy stories collection.
