I’m Going To Ditch Worry
When a family member mentioned being worried about the future, the Footloose Forester asked her to ditch the worrisome thoughts and program her thinking with a positive attitude. He asked her to take a sheet of lined paper and to list 10 reasons why she should ditch her worries in favor of seeking ways she was going to handle her own problems.
Upon reflection, the Footloose Forester decided to take his own advice and immediately penned his own list. The first draft of that list is, as follows:
- Worry never helped me.
- Worry never solved problems.
- Worry is bad for my digestion.
- Worry doesn’t pay the bills.
- Worry is distracting.
- Worry doesn’t earn peace of mind.
- Worry distracts from my joys.
- Worry is too painful to allow.
- Worry is a temporary stress.
- Worry is no longer an issue with me.
