I Met Chuck Berry

My first job was working in the concession stand at the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Civic Auditorium.  I was in high school in the late 50’s and it was fun to see all the events that came to town.  I was thrilled when one day a Rock & Roll show came to the auditorium and who should I wait on but the great songwriter and performer, Chuck Berry .  He was wild on the stage doing his duck walk but in person he was very polite.  I still remember that he ordered an orange drink and smiled as he thanked me.  This fall I will be attending a conference in St. Louis and his daughter, Ingrid Berry Clay, will be headlining the Saturday evening entertainment.
