My First Car

When I was a teen, I didn't even own a bicycle let alone a car. I had to borrow my younger sister's bicyle and that wasn't an easy thing to do. It was attached to her hip!  I was twenty years old when I first learned to drive. I was married with children and my husband is the one who chose to teach me. He took me to the parking lot of a grocery store that closed at seven pm. By then it was dark outside but the lot was lit up.  There was one light post in the middle of the lot and my husband told me to make sure to stay away from it. I drove around the lot once and you guessed it, I was so close to the post that my husband couldn't open his door. Now, I had never heard my husband curse but I guess there has to be a first time!!!! Believe it or not, I've been a safe driver for over sixty years due to my husband's love and patience.

If I know you, inside you were laughing hysterically after you realized you were going to live. Dad would've protected you like the great treasure you are to all of us. Thank God for that!! I knew there was some reason why I can't remember EVER being in a car with you driving. Much love.
