I've written my accounting of where I was on 9-11. But, this morning I sit with Christine watching the build up to the 10th anniversary ceremonies at the three historic locations. We spent the evening last night watching beautifully produced documentaries about the attacks.

I had to write this because I am surprised at how emotional we still are. We cried our eyes out so many times last night and again this morning. Knowing the pain we are feeling just thinkng about the families who lost loved ones, their pain is much worse than we can imagine.

The initial coverage of the event 10 years ago was so shocking and then the follow up news features seemed to never end. I was happy it all began to fade away so we could get on with life. Every year we take time to reflect and this year in particular we focus even more. I'm sorry that my life is so consumed that it requires an anniversary to remind me. But, I'm glad at least that happens.

We cannot ever forget, even for a minute. It is such a priviledge to be an American and when I see these ceremonies I want to covet that feeling of pride in such a way that it doesn't fade with the distractions of every day life going forward. Human nature tells me that it will fade until we are reminded agan. But, I know for sure that it isn't fading for those who are still suffering an unimaginable loss. Whether they ever read this or anyone ever does is not important. I just want to wrap my arms arund each and every family member who needs a hug right now.

That's about as much as I can stand. Now, I return to the live ceremonies and continue to reflect.
