The Windmill of My Life
Its
wings emit a whisper that flows softly through my
hair;
A symbol of tranquility, it churns the
aromatic air.
Found among green pastures it
stands dignified and tall;
I gaze upward at
the majesty and wonder of it.
But when the storm approaches it sends forth a
mighty sound;
From its wings the rain falls
powerfully upon the fertile ground.
I
express my misery at this astonishing display;
And watch in sorrow, grieving, as the wind sweeps
it away.
Suddenly, I am launched
into a thoughtful reverie;
Therein I am
reminded of the soul God placed in me.
Deliberately chosen and significantly
blessed;
He set my life in motion giving all
that He possessed.
Once I stood
in ignorance and noticed not my sin;
I
thought my deeds were flawless; there was happiness
within.
Ah! But then the storms of
life lashed forth with a crushing blow;
I
wept as satan stole my joy; such pain I'd never
known.
But now, my
heart rejoices as I lift my voice in song;
For I'm planted firmly in the field where those
in Christ belong.
Though the windmill of my
life brings with it trials and troubles sore;
The Maker of the wind will bring me comfort
everymore.
