Tom's Roast Part-4
This video segment is one of my favorites. Singing with Christine for the first time ever on stage was one of my most special moments in life and a dream come true for her.
OK, so it wasn't the VERY first time she sang in public
I tried to make light of her ordeal of trying to keep my party a surprise and how she was thrown completely out of her comfort zone by a shocking and sudden move of our entire life. There is no way words can explain what she went through.
This is one of the most beautiful people to ever grace this planet and she deserves the obvious appreciation she received by the audience. If there was one single luckiest thing to ever happen to me, this is it.
Who couldn't love this?
We had about an hour to practice this song that she chose, Two of Us by the Beatles. I couldn't remember the chorus at all and spoiled that part big time. We laughed during practice that she couldn't hold the melody as I harmonized coming out of a chorus or bridge. At the very end of practice she got it and felt she had a chance. If you listen close you'll hear that she lost it when it came to live performing. The best of them will do it and she did hold it for the rest of the song. You'll see how we looked at each other when that happened and we almost broke out laughing.
You can't deny that she is so sweet up there and this will be one of the treasures I will cherish forever.
Oh, by the way, at the beginning of the video is an excerpt from a video I made years ago with Chris, Mum, Dad, Dan, and I think Susan. One day I'll post the entire video because it is one of the most hilarious ever. The scenario was we were all attending a motivational conference for the deaf. Each of us did something beyond funny that day and this video was only one sample. It was an intermission break where I played a deaf drummer who got out of control. It was filmed in the lower level of our lake house where Mum & Dad lived at the time.
