Treasure Hunt One 5 years old
When I was 5 years old, my family and I lived on Post, as they say in the Army, in Arlington, VA. This was my first memory of living on Post, as I was the youngest of 4 girls. I really loved having so many kids available whenever there was playtime outside. You were never at a loss for a friend to play with.
One of the family activities we always did together was going to the Craft Shop on Post. Oh how I loved this! I got to work in clay, oil paints and water colors. Clay was the most fun here for me. Not only could you design your piece but you could paint it too. It was always so exciting to me to see the end result coming out of the kiln after it was fired and the glaze became a beautiful, colorful, glossy finish, ready to be used or placed on the mantel for showing. The potters wheel was always fascinating to me, to think you could take this clump of clay and create bowls of all kinds!
I think this may have been one of the doors opening to art in my life and I am forever grateful.
Here I am with Mom, Dad, Me and my sister Sue.

It's exciting to think that when we expose children to positive influences in their lives, the whole world gets to share in those talents.
Thanks for this spot-on example of a history in the making.
Thanks Dick, you always see the bright side of everything. I love your comments.
My best, Christine
