I Liked Watching the Snow With No Channel
BONANZA
SUNDAY NIGHT I COULDN'T WAIT. HOSS WAS MY FAVORITE WHEN HE WAS THERE TO HELP LITTLE JOE I WAS HAPPY .BUT WE DIDN'T GET TO ENJOY THE SHOW AS MUCH AS MOST PEOPLE BECAUSE IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW THE MAP WOULD START TO BURN UP AND THE FLAME HAD NO COLOR. THEN ONE DAY MY DAD CAME HOME WITH A PIECE OF FILM THAT COVERED THE SCREEN OF THE TV. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GIVE THE PICTURE COLOR. WELL FROM WHAT I CAN REMEMBER IT DID GIVE IT SOME GREEN AND BLUE EFFECT AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS COOL. I GUESS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY WAS ABOUT THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING BACK THEN WAS THE ANTENNA PLACEMENT FOR DIFFERENT CHANNELS. REMEMBER? AFTER YOU HAD YOUR TV FOR A WHILE YOU HAD TO TURN THE CHANNEL KNOB JUST RIGHT TO STAY ON THE CHANNEL AND THAT STUPID VOLUME KNOB KEPT FALLING OFF.
WELL I'M GOING TO FINISH THIS STORY WITH THE DAY MY DAD BROUGHT HOME OUR FIRST COLOR TV CONSOLE. THAT'S RIGHT. IT WAS AS BIG AS A COUCH. I BELIEVE MY DAD GOT THE TV IN EXCHANGE FOR A PLASTERING JOB HE COMPLETED. ANYWAY - WE HAD TO WAIT PATIENTLY UNTIL HE WAS READY TO SET IT UP. IT WAS A WHOLE DAY LATER! WHEN IT WAS READY ALL TWELVE EYES OF MOM'S AND DAD'S CREATION WERE UPON IT. WE JUST COULDN'T WAIT FOR THE FIRST COLOR PICTURE WE WOULD SEE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OUR LIVES. I CAN'T EXPLAIN THE COMPLETE JOY I EXPERIENCED BUT I CAN SAY IT WAS A DEFINING MOMENT. LATER THAT WEEK WE ALL TALKED ABOUT HOW WE COULDN'T WAIT TO SEE OUR FAVORITE SHOW IN COLOR. THE BURNING OF THE MAP IN LIVING COLOR AT THE BEGINNING OF BONANZA WAS FANTASTIC!
OH YA REMEMBER THE NBC peacock

Hoss was awesome. But I just spent a weekend with in California where a group of women meet every year to hold a 3 day "Pernellathon". That's right. All day all night everything Pernell Roberts, Adam on Bonanza. And they didn't watch one episode this year because they had so many other things to show and tell. To each his own I suppose but it was pretty cool actually.
Great stuff Unca.
Hershey's Chocolate and Maxwell House.
