My Favorite Teacher
She said, "You were the good reader, weren''t you!"
My favorite teacher is a teacher from elementary school. My parents and I ran into her at a restaurant a couple years after I had been in her class. My parents introduced themselves and me. When she heard my name, she said, You were the good reader, weren't you!" I remembered that incident though not my teachers name, I felt that if I did my best, I would be remembered for it.

There ya go! Someone recognized your reading ability early on and that encouragement had to make a difference over the years.

It is amazing what simple statements like that do for us... they stay with us and actually do impact our concept of ourselves...
