Ode To The Shed Out Back

When I got out of the Army I came home to live with my parents . I had a job shortly after I got home working during the week , but week ends were free to do with what I wanted to do . My Daddy decided he wanted to add on to the back of his garage to make a small storage room . It was just a lean to shed roof , nothing special . I told him that I would help him . We poured the concrete floor , framed up the walls , and started on the rafters for roof . The next thing you know my mother came out and it sounded like a couple of old tom cats fighting . My Dad and I was argueing over “how to do it “ “ I HAD BEEN IN THE ARMY AND I WAS SMARTER THAN HIM” I thought  . Of course he didn’t back down either . He was just as smart as me . You see , he was the youngest kid in his family ( The Baby ) I was the youngest kid in my family ( The baby ) and the worst thing was my mother was the youngest kid in her family

(The baby ) Have you ever seen three baby together . It’s impossible for them to get along . I moved out about three months later to an apartment of my own . Like I should have done to start with . I love my parents but there isn’t enough room in one house for three grown babies .

We finally got the shed built under my fathers direction . It ended up , He was just as smart as I was . It’s still standing . Forty plus years later .
