What I Could Change In My Life
The November Story Prompt is a tuff one . If you could go back in your life and change something what would you change. I read my cousin Millard Don Carriker’s story and I pretty much agree with him. Where would I be now if I changed anything. If I would have not joined the Army in 1966 and waited to get drafted I might not be alive today. If I would have went to Canada I wouldn’t want to be alive today.I wouldn’t have got to see parts of the world that I did and see some of the people that I did . I wouldn’t have some of the life long friends that I still have today . If I would have not dropped out of high school I probably would have not ever met my first wife because I would have been doing a different job and would have not been where I was at when I met her. I would have know the sweetness of her and I would have not had two of her children . If I would have not moved around like I did I would have not married my current wife and not known her sweetness and how wonderful it is for someone to put up with some one like me. Believe it or not I can be a little troublesome sometimes not saying that everyone is every once and awhile. There is so many twist and turns that I have made in my life that I have left a pretty crooked road to follow . But looking back on it all if there was one thing that I did have to change. I think I would go all the way back to my fourth grade . I had a teacher that everyone hated . Parents included . Mean Old Mrs Mason . She was the type of teacher that whacked your knuckles if you sit idle or pulled your hair if you didn’t keep your nose in the book . I think If I would have paid more attention to her I would have made better grade through out Jr High and High School . I probably would have Graduated High School even though my body weight would have kept me from being the Airpalne Test Pilot that I wanted to be when I was younger . But instead of growing up repairing copiers for a living I could have an Electrical Engineer or a Mechanical Engineer and made about ten times as much money as what I did . But hindsight is twenty twenty. And I found out working on copying machines. You can’t go back to where you last call was and go to your next call. You have to go from where you are at now.So I just pick up the pieces and put one foot in front of the other one and see where I go.

Way to go,Charles. It's sort of fun to think about "what if," but you can never really know the answer.
Good advice Charles. Who knows where your feet will guide you in the future. I guess we'll just have to follow your footsteps and see.

It's really fascinating to think about what could've been but even if life gives us a raw deal there is so much to be gained in it. Your experience in particular is an especially good example. As always, it's a great read.
I agree with Don. "What If" is a fun game to play and it's interesting to ponder possible outcomes. But the reality is that we can never know the outcome for certain. Great read.
