RED ROVER RED ROVER
THIS WAS A FUN GAME
WE WOULD LINE UP HOLDING HANDS LIKE IN THE PICTURE. EACH LINE OF PEOPLE HOLDING HANDS WOULD BE ABOUT 4 TO 5 PEOPLE. THE TWO LINES WOULD BE ABOUT 50 FEET APART. THE FIRST PART OF THIS GAME IS THAT YOU TAKE TURNS CALLING A KID FROM THE OTHER LINE. LETS PRETEND IT'S MY TURN TO BE CALLED. "RED ROVER RED ROVER SEND JOHNNY RIGHT OVER. " WAS THE CALLING PHRASE . NOW AT THIS POINT I'M SO EXCITED MY NAME WAS CALLED AND MY EYES WERE LOOKING ACROSS AND MY FEET WERE READY TO GO. "WAIT A MINUTE JOHNNY." IN THE SECOND PART OF THE GAME, YOU HAD TO RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AND TRY TO BREAK ONE OF THE LINKS IN THE OTHER LINE. OK, I'M READY. I FELT LIKE I WAS CARTOON RUNNING. I REACHED THE OTHER LINE AND DIDN'T BREAK THROUGH. INSTEAD I WAS SPRUNG BACK BY THE LINE AND REJECTED. AT THIS POINT I'M OUT OF THE GAME. IF I WAS ABLE TO BREAK THROUGH THE LINE I WOULD ELIMINATE THE TWO PLAYERS I SEPARATED AND RETURN BACK TO WHERE I STARTED. "A GAME OF STRENGTH AND TEAM WORK" FOR ALL KIDS BACK THEN.

I don't think I ever broke the chain either. These are great recollections!! I can see you so excited with "little legs" ready to kick off like a cartoon. So funny!
Yup that's a good one! I did love this game too.
Great concise story and a wonderful way to put us right there with you trying to break the line!
