Their Story
Isaac B. Chivington was born on August 18,1824 in Warren Co. Ohio to parents Isaac Chivington (1791-1826) and Jane (Runyon) Chivington (1792-1889). He grew up in Warren Co., Ohio living with parents and siblings.
On August 4,1846, when he was 21 years of age, he joined in marriage with Rebecca Starbuck Butler (1828-1892).
In the census of 1850 the couple lived in Sycamore, Hamilton Co. Ohio and had 2 children at this time.
In the census of 1860 they were living in Greggsport, Otoe Co., Nebraska and had 5 children at this time.
On May 26,1864 Rev. Isaac Chivington was a delegate and member of the Committee on Resolutions. This convention was held to condemn the “Rebellion”
The census of 1870 show the family having 8 children at this time and living in Nishnabotna, Atchison Co. Missouri. One son was born to this couple after the census, a son .
In the census of 1880 the family was living in Holt Co. Missouri and the Rev. Isaac Chivington conducted a marriage here, as recorded .

Rebecca Starbuck (Butler) Chivington was born in Ohio in 1828 ,unable to document parents names. I found information that she died on January 21, 1892 in Harris, Ripley Co. Missouri. Unable to find where she is buried.
In 1893, I found a marriage recorded in Spickard, Grundy Co. Missouri to Rev. Isaac B. Chivington and Mary J. (Meyers)1844-?.
In the census of 1900 Isaac and second wife Mary were residing in Marion, Grundy Co. Missouri.
On April 21, 1910 Rev. Isaac Chivington died in the State Hospital in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co. Missouri. The death certificate cites cardiac insufficiency, senility. His body was transported back and he is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield, Missouri
I couldn’t find any proof of Isaac and Rebecca residing in Caldwell Co. Missouri, perhaps he came to Caldwell to give a sermon, or was friends of someone connected to Kendall Chapel. That would explain the names on the Memorial Quilt.
