Rules to Live By
Rules to Live By:
Actually, I don't like the word "rules." Sometimes that has a wrong connotation in some people's minds. However, for lack of a better word--actually I just thought of one...............Principles to Live By. There, much better!
BE KIND. Showing kindness goes a long ways in this troubled world.
BEFORE ACTING ON ANYTHING, ASK YOURSELF, "HOW WILL THIS AFFECT MY ETERNITY OR MY ETERNAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS PERSON?" Too many times we react instead of act. And we also act inappropriately for the size of the offense. Friendships and business relationships are too dear, and life is too short.
BE TRUTHFUL. Always tell the truth regardless of the consequences. It's better to be known as one who does not lie than to have a reputation of one who cannot be counted on.
PAY IT FORWARD. Many times in your life you will be helped by someone whom you cannot pay back. Therefore, pay it forward. Be looking for someone else whom you can help. Then tell them to pay it forward, as well. What a wonderful world this would be if we all responded this way.
BE GRATEFUL. Oh, how I wish I had been more grateful as a young person. Do not make that same mistake. Be grateful for big things, but also express thanks for the little things in life. Those little everyday things, such as: good health (mine isn't perfect, but it's much better than a lot of others), wonderful family (that care about me and pray for me), freedom (I can go where I want, worship as I please, and work at a job I love), transportation, technology, and the list goes on.
SMILE. It usually surprises others when you just walk around doing your daily tasks with a smile on your face. But what a wonderful surprise! Smiles are contagious and they make the world much brighter.
LEARN TO WORK. And learn to work hard. You may not always have to work hard, but if you know how....if you know the great feeling you get for a job well done....then you will never want for the necessities of life. And you will be happy.
To my wonderful children and grandchildren...........I love you more than you can know. You are already much better at life's trials and happenings than I was at your age. You are smart, beautiful, loving, and you are mine for eternity. And, oh, how grateful I am for that knowlege. Have a great day, week, month, year, and life!

Yvonne, You and I chose to use the word principles before fleshing out our contributions. When I looked at the clipboard with my draft composition, it was marked 5 principles and then underlined. I'm glad our titles are different, to avoid confusion.
Well, you know the old saying......"Great minds..........." I'm grateful we won't have any confusion, though. Thank you.
