The Benifits Of A Copier Repairman
Being a copier repairman isn’t the best paying job a person could have but it does have its benefits. I was at a “High Dollar “Art Gallery in what they call “The Central West End “of St Louis one day repairing the copier in the back room. I was just busy as a little bee when I heard the front door open which the door didn’t open to often to an Art Gallery. But I kept busy and I over heard them talking up front to each other and the unmistakable voice came back to my ears “ GahLee This is my friend Dom DeLouise , we’re in town and we’re just looking around “ I peeked around and it was Jim Nabors and Dom DeLouise standing before my eyes . I almost fainted .
But the best benefit I had was when I worked on the copier at the JCCA ( Jewish Community Center for the Aging ) I had always heard that Jewish people were stingy with their money . I learned differently . Conservative Yes ;Stingy No. I was repairing the copier in the main office at the JCCA and this man walked in and the secretary asked him of he wanted to go see Lola Falana and Neil Sedaka at the Fox on Sunday . He said he couldn’t because he had to stay and wash dishes that Sunday . Well wise guy popped off “ I will “ The secretary said “ How many tickets do you need ?“ I said “ four “ I thought Myself ; my wife ; and two son’s . I had never been in the Fox Theater before . I had heard that it was beautiful . It is a 1930’s theater that has been restored to its original grandeur and beauty. I got the tickets for Sunday and Myself; my wife and two pre teen sons’ went to the Fabulous Fox Theater in St Louis. We were like a bunch of poor ole rednecks. Every one else had on their minks and fox furs while we were in just PLAIN CLOTHES . But I did learn one thing . Jewish people are not stingy . We had a sweet elderly Jewish lady working for us that was a saleslady that bought me several gifts and not one of them was inexpensive . They were pretty expensive gifts that I still have after 25 plus years . And I cherish them dearly .

Good story and it shows how stereotypes can be so wrong. My wife worked as a secretary at a JCCA in Chesterfield MO. I'll bet it's the same one. She enjoyed it and learned a lot about the Jewish religion.
