James William McNarie

His Story

     I have found a birth year of 1819 in Boone Co. Kentucky for James.  I have also found a birth year of 1826 and 1836 for James, stating he born in Ohio.  In the 1900 census he was living with son Ulysses Grant McNarie, and it is stated he born in Kentucky. Several other places I have found listed he born in Kentucky.

     By the year 1858, he was living in Missouri, he married Hannah Sutton in Ray County, Missouri that year.  In the 1870 and 1880 census his last name is spelled McNary, but in later census it is back to McNarie. 

     He enlisted  in the 6^th Missouri S.M. Cavalry under the spelling of James W. McNarie, and is buried in Kidder Cemetery under the same spelling.
