Charles Edgar Streeter

Sara Frances (Clare) Streeter

Their Story

     Charles Edgar Streeter was born on October 2^nd 1846 in Courtland, New York to parents Horace Ballard Streeter and Cornelia L. (Gillette) Streeter. He remained living in New York with his parents and siblings until the family moved to Caldwell County, Missouri in 1857.

     In the 1860 census living in Blythe Twsp with parents and siblings.  In 1864 Charles Edgar enlisted in the Union Army in the 44^th Mo. Co H Inf. And remained for the remainder of the war.  His father, and older brother were also in Union Army during this time period. 

     In the 1870 census Charles E. was living in Baxter Springs, Kansas and listed as a clothing salesman. By the 1880 census he had moved back to Caldwell County, Missouri to the town of Kingston.  Listed as a farmer in census.

     In 1881 on June 1^st at age of 34, Charles E. Streeter was joined in marriage to Sarah Frances Clare/Clair(1860-1926) daughter of Henry Miller  Clare (1817(KY)-1887(Kingston, Missouri)and Sophia Cox Clare(1820-Ky-1866- Caldwell County, Missouri)

     In 1890 Charles Edgar Streeter filed for Pension possibly due to injury received during Civil War.

     In the census of 1900 the parents Chas. E and Sallie (Sarah) were living in Hamilton, Caldwell County, Missouri with three children; Percival,(1882-1963) Josiah (1884-1970)and Fred C.(1886-1932)

     1910 census show the family as living in the South Ward of Hamilton, Caldwell County, Missouri.

      Charles E. was listed as a laborer in the census.  He died on July 3, 1916 in Hamilton, Missouri and is buried in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri.

Sarah F. Streeter died on June 30, 1826 and is buried with husband in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri.
