Ellen Ford Her Story
Ellen Ford
Her Story
Ellen Ford was the youngest of the daughters born to David Ford and Nancy(McIntosh) Ford, she was born in Canada on May 22,1858, and was 10 years old when the family came to the United States and settled in Caldwell County, Missouri. They lived in Kingston Twsp, Caldwell Co. in the census of 1870-1880.
On March 20,1883 Ellen Ford joined in marriage with George W. Hogsett of Kingston. In the census of 1900 their address was rural Kingston, George listed as farm worker. At this time they had one son William (Will) A. Hogsett age 8, born in 1891.
I found a land ownership of 80 acres in the 1907 atlas, North of Kingston.
In 1917 their son Will Hogsett signed up for the WWI draft. In the 1920 census George/ Ella/ and son Will lived in Hamilton, Missouri. Will was listed as single. Father George died in 1922, and buried in Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, Missouri.
In the census of 1930 Ella and son Will living in Hamilton, Missouri and she listed as widowed. Ellen (Ford) Hogsett died June 21,1933 and is buried in Highland Cemetery, next to Husband.
Son William A.(Will) died the very next year 1934 and is buried by parents. He had never married. I found where the American Legion requested a Veterans grave marker for him. Says he never saw active duty as an officer but was in the reserves.
