Jennie May Alden
Her Story
Jennie May Alden was the seventh child of George Leonard and Marietta Alden. She was born in East Middleboro, Mass. on July 9,1865. She lived with family and moved to Illinois in 1862, along with them. Then back to Middleboro, Mass. She came to Caldwell County ,Missouri in 1869 to Kidder. She grew up in Caldwell Co. attended Kidder Institute, graduating with a teaching degree.
She taught school in Caldwell County for a time. In a few years she moved to Springfield, Missouri and attended college there.
When her father decided to move back to East Middleboro, Mass. She along with , brother George W., brother Eugene, and sister Phoebe Ann moved with them, and remained throughout life.
She made her home with her sister in Brockton and attended a course at the Bridgewater Normal School. She taught at Raynham and at the Winthrop school in the city. She started teaching in Brookline in 1900.
She never married and is listing as living in boarding house in 1910 and 1920. In Brookline and Boston where she had a large acquaintance ,she was lovingly called “Pricilla” due to her family linage.
She died in Massachusetts in 1931, two of her sisters all died within 7 months of each other.
