Whales of Magdalena Bay

                                                                               Baja Peninsula

Every year, we eagerly anticipate our visit to the stunning Pueblo Bonito Sunset timeshare in Cabo. However, during one of our stays, a new adventure beckoned – the opportunity to journey up the mid peninsula to Magdalena Bay, where we could potentially come face to face with the majestic Grey Whales.

This year, we decided to embark on this daring expedition. Our voyage commenced with a drive to the captivating city of La Paz, nestled safely on the gulf side of the peninsula. Although this marked our second time in La Paz, it was the first occasion for our children to savor its wonders.

Yet, the drive from La Paz to Magdalena Bay proved to be more challenging than anticipated. The roads, reminiscent of a developing nation, were undergoing extensive repairs. The roadways were narrow, forcing traffic into tight spaces where drivers maintained breakneck speeds. Reflecting on the experience, I must admit, I wouldn't undertake the journey again.

Nonetheless, our arrival at Magdalena Bay instantly transformed our apprehensions into elation. The lodging, although possessing a rustic charm, seamlessly integrated modern comforts. The seafood, particularly the shrimp, showcased an unparalleled freshness that delighted our taste buds. Guided by an expert Captain, we were treated to numerous awe-inspiring whale sightings.

For those presented with the opportunity, I wholeheartedly recommend venturing to witness the captivating whale migration. The journey might test your mettle, but the reward of experiencing these remarkable creatures in their natural habitat is beyond compare.
