Me and My Sister
My younger kid sister, she happened to go to nursing school here in Columbus. My wife was in the same nursing class, and my brother's wife was in the same grade at the old St. Francis Hospital here in town.
So when I was in the army I would call my sister. I would take part of my pay and send it to my kid sister to go to school with. I was getting about $20 a month, and I would send her $10. That was a lot to send half my pay to her.
So when I would get into town to call her at the nursing dorm, there was a pay phone in the hallway. Whenever that phone would ring, the nurses would hurry over to see who could answer the phone first. And whoever answered the phone first, that's who I would take out that night.
There was a little red-headed girl in the class. She's still living today. She married Dr. Tom Clark, I remember. He died, and then she married a lawyer. And he died. She was from around the Johnstown-Utica area. So to this day my wife still hates red heads.
