For a girl who had never been far from home, flying to Cancun was a big adventure. I was going with my new husband, Greg, on our honeymoon and this man was someone I wanted to travel with. In my previous life(before Greg I had always found excuses about why not to travel. But having someone you adore and trust to go with you sure changes the outlook. And was I ever rewarded. Just flying over the caribbean waters was breathtaking and landing in the lush green tropical state was heaven. Everything was geared toward relaxation and fun. Snorkeling was incredible/I had never done it. Traveling thru local communities to get to the Mayan ruins was so interesting.....and the ruins were fascinating. I could not get enough of everything. And, in fact we have now returned to various places around Cancun three separate times. All have been perfect

Here we are in a local market outside Cancun on honeymoon in 2001.

Chichen Itza -Famed mayan ruins a couple of hours outside Cancun.  My husband climbed to the top.  They forbid that now as persons have defaced the property.

Sunset in marvelous Cancun Mexico.....romantic.

Deanne, I really enjoyed seeing those lovely photos. Thanks for sharing them. The last one, of the beach at sunset, looks good enough to wind a prize!
