The locket
I have a locket. I 've had it since I was a teenager when my mother gave it to me. At her death, I found a picture of her prior to marriage to my father. She was wearing the locket. My father does not know who gave it to her, as he did not know her at the time of the picture. She did not tell me anything about its history when she gave it to me. Now I have all kinds of fantasies in my head about where she got it. It meant enough to her to have it on in her picture. But what is it really?

You ask an intriguing question. Most of us wish we had asked this, that or the other thing of our relatives who are no longer here - which is why you've done a great thing in joining LegacyStories! Good story,Deanne.
Well Deanne. Looks like you have a mystery to solve. Something tells me she wouldn't bother to give t to you without knowing it had significant value, even if only sentimental. This is why we need to preserve the stories behind our keepsakes. All is not lost. It's the hunt that's so much fun. Thanks for this story. A good lesson for us all.
I can identify with your curiosity. I have a ring that was my mother's. She found it stitched in the lining of an old silver chest that belong to my grandmother. I'd give a lot to know the story but it will never be told.
