Winston Peak and Winston Ridge

We hiked Waterman Mountain some years ago and could see Winston Peak from the top, so it was well past time to bag this peak. Winston Ridge was a pleasant surprise!
This was such a special hike, I would consider this one of our better peak hikes that we have done!

Let's go!

This hike utilizes a section of the Pacific Crest Trail. It is always a GREAT day hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains.

This is the first time that I have ever come upon this plant. Marv informed me that it is a snow plant. The color is stiking and very beautiful.

Must be getting near the top, it's getting rocky up here.

We reached the summit and Marv marked the occasion.

Going off the back side of the loop we didn't know what to expect, but Winston Ridge was more beautiful than Winston Peak, since the views from the peak were obscured by pine trees.

Down down down we go.

Hi little fella. Marv spotted this beautiful Horned Lizard camouflaged on the ground.

How did that stone get in the tree?

The vistas in this mountain range are spectacular.

Lupine Lupine everywhere in late may!

No signs were left up here by a kind hiker, so we had to improvise.

Winston Ridge was spectacular for it's views of the desert floor.

Check out our video from the day.
