Fred Clare “Freddie” Streeter
His Story
Fred Clare Streeter was born on April 7th 1886 to parents Charles Edgar Streeter and Sara Frances (Clare) Streeter. He was born in Hamilton, Missouri, and lived with family in Hamilton through the 1910 census.
On May 27, 1915 he joined in marriage with Dorothy Rhys (1891-1919) in Chicago, Illinois. She was born in Iowa to Arthur and Fannie Rhys of Carthage, Missouri. She worked in Kansas City, Missouri as a stenographer.
Fred C. and Dorothy moved to Marshall, Saline County, Missouri. On March 29, 1919 Dorothy died in childbirth and is buried at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, Missouri. In 1920 census Fred C. living in Marshall listed as widowed and mother Sarah (Sallie) living with him at this time, she was also widowed.
On December 23, 1920 Fred C. Streeter joined in marriage with Ruth Lavina Hagood (b Nov. 15, 1896 - d. Mar. 4, 1972).
The census shows that they continued to live in Marshall, Missouri in 1930 census, at this time they had two children Fred C. - 8yr and Nancy 5yr.
Fred C. Streeter Sr. died on Apr. 30, 1932 at Marshall, Missouri and is buried at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, Missouri.
Son Fred C. Jr. enlisted in army in 1942, at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He served as a paratrooper with the 504 parachute Infantry and was killed in action on Dec. 12, 1943 in Sicilia, Italy. He is buried at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, Mo.
Ruth (Hagood) Streeter died on April 3, 1972 and is buried at Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, Missouri.
